Each week on Songs from the Loop, I will perform one song, a cappella, for the duration of the sixty-minute broadcast. Songs from the Loop is recorded and broadcast live from the Free Radio broadcasting station, located in School of the Art Institute of Chicago here on Michigan Avenue – in the Loop. Songs from the Loop was conceived as part of a larger body of work entitled 'Comfort Songs. Premised on the notion that the complexity of experience presents an impossibility for notation, Comfort Songs has taken the form of performance documents in which repetition serves as a stabilizing trope.
